Bradford Crawl, 12th September 2015

My usual start was a National Express bus up to Leeds from Nottingham. I got into Bradford just after 10.30am so it was time to find a city centre pub to quench my thirst. It was a good walk up to the Eccleshill area in North Bradford. It was then a walk in the rain to my proper pub crawl start point.

Pub No 1: The Ginger Goose, a nice drop of Saltaire Blonde.

The Ginger Goose

Pub No 2: The Swing Gate, really nice pub, I had Tetley Cask. A shortish walk to the next pub...

The Swing Gate

Pub No 3: the Milners Arms, I had a nice drink of Ossett Silver King.

Milners Arms

It was time for something to eat so in the chippy close by and a bag of chips with loads of scraps on, then on to the next pub.

Pub No 4 was The Manor House, a drink of Theakston Lightfoot went down well. I stayed here longer than I should have because the rain was quite heavy.

The Manor House

Pub No 5: The Prince of  Wales, recently reopened and done up, not a pub to take your Mam into. No real ales, so it was a drink of  John Smiths Smooth crap.

Prince of Wales

Another shortish walk and I was at... Pub No 6: The Prospect, a decent drink of Black Sheep Bitter.

The Prospect

Pub No 7 was the Royal Oak, a really nice pub in the Eccleshill shopping area. I had a nice drink of Saltaire Blonde.

The Royal Oak

Another short walk and I was at... Pub No 8: The New Inn, I had another decent drink of Saltaire Blonde.

New Inn

The pubs were coming thick and fast but the real ales seemed to have dried out.

Pub No 9 was The Fountain, a drink of keg Tetley Smooth, which was crap.

The Fountain

Pub No 10: The White Hart Inn, a pretty dire pub, I had a drink of  John Smiths Extra Cold crap.

White Hart Inn

I was hoping to get some real ale in the next pub No 11 but no luck, The Victoria was another keg only pub. I had a drink of Tetley Smooth which was crap.

The Victoria

Pub No 12 was The Sycamores, no real ale here. I had a drink of John Smiths Smooth crap which lived up to its name.

The Sycamores

Pub No 13 was The Lane Ends, a large pub that was packed. I had a decent drink of Saltaire Blonde.

The Lane Ends

I was now heading towards the Idle area of Bradford. Pub No 14 was The Highfield, I had a decent drink of Tetley cask.

The Highfield

Pub No 15 was The Springfield Hotel, no real ales here, so it was a drink of Worthington Cream crap.

Springfield Hotel

Pub No 16 was The Brewery Tap, a decent pub, I had a drink of Ossett Yorkshire Blonde.

The Brewery Tap

Joined onto the Brewery Tap is The Alexandra, Pub No 17. I had a decent drink of Bradford Ordsall Top.

The Alexandra

A short walk and was in the middle of Idle. Pub No 18 was Symposium Ale & Wine Bar, I had a drink of Oakells MPA which was a nice drink.

Symposium Ale & Wine Bar

A very short walk and I was in the White Swan  Pub No 19. I had a drink of Tetley Cask.

White Swan

Pub No 20 was The Oddfellows, no real ales here so it was a drink of John Smiths Smooth crap.

The Oddfellows

Pub No 21 was The New Inn  and a decent drop of Leeds Best.

New Inn

Another very short walk and I was in... Pub No 22: The White Bear, I had a drink of Tetley Cask.

The White Bear

I  was now going downhill to Thackley and my last pub of the day.

Pub No 23: The Great Northern, I had a drink of Tetley Cask.

Great Northern

A short bus ride to Shipley and I was on a train back to Leeds for the coach back to Nottingham.

A great day out pub crawling and 23 new pubs done. Most were decent pubs, just a shame about the lack of any real ales in some.

More Pub Crawls to follow - some recent and some old ones.
